Carina Hong
Biography
Carina Letong Hong will receive BSc. degrees in mathematics and physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Winner of the Alice T. Schafer Prize by the Association for Women in Mathematics, she has numerous papers accepted or submitted for publication in areas including number theory, arithmetic geometry, combinatorics, and theoretical computer science. Outside of academics, Carina is the President of the MIT Undergraduate Math Association and the International Student Association and is the Advocacy Chair of the First-Generation-Low-Income Students Coalition. Her service is recognized by the MIT Emerging Leader Award and Community Building Award. Carina hopes to continue devoting her life to solving conjectures and building communities. Daughter of a Teoswa-Cantonese family, she is committed to improving women’s status in science and broader academia, as well as that of other underrepresented groups.
