Matthew Hynes
Biography
Matthew Hynes is a second-year medical student at Queen's University. As a youth, Matthew led a national ovarian cancer fundraiser and later pursued an accelerated BSc at the University of New Brunswick. During his undergrad, Matthew was inducted into the Sir Howard Douglas Society and received USRA funding to conduct novel research on the molecular microbiology of bacterial communication.
During his medical studies, Matthew has been a steering committee member on the national Canadian Queer Medical Students Association as well as a co-director for the Medical Variety Night charity show. He also received the Edgar Forrester Scholarship for academic standing and his current research interests are focused on 2SLGBTQ+ populations and dermatologic oncology. Following Oxford, Matthew intends to complete his MD and pursue a career as an advocacy-oriented physician.
