Biography
Carissa J. Chen is a senior at Harvard College, where she majors in History. A nationally recognized poet and visual artist, Carissa is also editor-in-chief of the Harvard Economics Review. While conducting archival research, Carissa identified the first known living descendants of Harvard’s slaves and initiated efforts to bring reparations to these families. During the pandemic, she has founded organizations aimed at addressing domestic violence and social isolation. At Oxford, Carissa intends to further her research into economic and social history.
